The International Students Assembly Program is dedicated to empowering international students in Uganda to overcome career-limiting challenges and achieve their full potential. With over 20,000 foreign students enrolled in Ugandan institutions, our country has become a hub for global learning and cultural exchange. However, international students often face significant obstacles, including documentation issues, language barriers, limited access to opportunities, and stigma and discrimination.
Our program addresses these challenges by identifying, registering, and supporting international students, providing training and mentorship to enhance their skills and opportunities. The program culminates in an annual Convention, where foreign students from across Uganda converge to:
– Meet and connect with peers from diverse backgrounds
– Learn from industry experts and thought leaders
– Share experiences and best practices
– Engage with local and global opportunities
Through this program, YOCA aims to foster a supportive community of international students, equip them with the skills and knowledge to succeed, and promote cross-cultural understanding and collaboration.
Founded in 2017, YOCA is an independent, registered, youth-friendly not-for-profit social enterprise. As the largest forum in Uganda focused on youth career development, work, and employment, we are dedicated to unlocking endless opportunities for young people. We empower secondary school, vocational, and university students with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to succeed in their educational and career journeys.
