FAWE Uganda and Mastercard Foundation Offer 700 Bursaries for 2025/2026 Academic Year

The Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, is offering 700 bursaries for the 2025/2026 academic year. This initiative aims to support academically talented but financially disadvantaged young people, helping them gain access to higher education and technical training.

Available Bursaries and Study Options

The bursaries are divided into two categories:

  1. Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET):
    • These bursaries cover training in fields such as mechanics, agriculture, construction, and other vocational programs.
    • Applicants must have completed the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.
  2. Higher Education Access Certificate (HEAC):
    • This bursary supports students aiming to pursue STEM-related courses at recognized universities.
    • Applicants must have completed UACE but may not have met the direct university entry requirements.

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for the FAWE Uganda bursaries, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Ugandan nationals aged 18-25 years and refugees aged 18-30 years.
  • Must have been born in and reside in one of the targeted districts across Eastern, Central, Northern, and Western Uganda.
  • Should have completed UCE or UACE depending on the chosen program.
  • Must demonstrate financial need and a strong commitment to academic excellence.
  • For HEAC bursaries, applicants must be admitted directly to a participating university.

Application Process

  1. Collect an Application Form:
    • Forms are available at District Education Offices in targeted regions.
    • They can also be collected from FAWE Uganda’s office at Plot 328, Bukoto – Kisaasi Road, P.O. Box 24117 Kampala, Uganda.
  2. Submit the Application:
    • Completed forms should be delivered to the respective District Education Office or FAWE Uganda’s office before the deadline.
    • All applicants must provide supporting documents, including academic transcripts, a national ID or refugee card, and proof of financial need.
